The Model 856-150 system measures H2S & total sulfur by hydrogenation, similar to that as described in ASTM Method D3031, D4084-82, D4468-85, & 4045-81. The sulfur sample is precisely metered into a continuous flowing stream of hydrogen gas. The sample and hydrogen are heated in the furnace resulting in thermal cracking of the sulfur which are reduced to short chain hydrocarbons. These reactions result in the formation of H2S. After complete humidification of the sample the H2S comes in direct contact with the lead acetate tape which produces a darkening of lead sulfide immediately measured by the photodiode/LED optics & rate-of-reaction digital electronics to provide an accurate and reproducible total sulfur and H2S analysis with PPB or PPM. The LCD display provides the current reading, any alarm condition, procedure prompts (such as calibration procedure), and failure indicators (is offered). Quality materials are selected for their compatibility and are utilized throughout fabrication. Special attention is given to wetted parts that come in contact with the process stream and are selected to be non-reactive with H2S/Sulfur.

Product Description

The ability to analytically quantify H2S in liquids such as crude oil, fuel oil, naphtha, water, diesel and gasoline are enhanced with the Sample Transfer StripperTM (STS), exclusive ASI Membrane Technologies and rateometric-colorimetric detection technology offered by Analytical Systems Keco. Analysis is a quick procedure requiring only one push button for analysis. The user first connects the prepared Sample Container to the analyzer. Next, the user presses START on the analyzer’s keypad. The rest of the analysis is automatic: The sample is quickly heated and agitated by purging the sample with air. The purging strips the H2S gas from the liquid sample based in part on Henry’s law. Next, the stripped H2S gas is swept to the STS unit which permeates through the exclusive ASI Membrane Technology. A carrier air on the other side of the membrane then sweeps the H2S gas sample to the H2S specific detector (no cross-interferences) for quantitative analysis in ppb, ppm, and up to saturation levels. The STS acts as an ultra effective filter, blocking any mists or liquid carry-overs. This radically reduces any maintenance requirements. The detection technology used in the 205L is based on chemically specific density changes. The advanced Tape detector utilized in our analyzers is the only detection method proven to be specific only to H2S, proven by thousands of worldwide applications. The analysis time is quickest on the market (5-10 minutes on average) without compromising precision. Tape rolls will last several months with continuous operation. The detector principle of operation is described in various ASTM methods include D4084-82, D4468-85, and D4045-81.
Proof of representative stripping of H2S from the liquid sample lies in the factory liquid calibration process and validation. While other analytical methods calibrate using only a blended gas phase sample (whereby compromising a true liquid to gas phase conversion), the 205L is fully factory calibrated with actual liquid samples in a process traceable to NIST standards.
The rateometric-colorimetric tape detector offered by ASI is the only H2S detection method that is practically free from cross-interference. The analyzer will not suffer from “false positives” like other H2S analyzer methods. Users demand Analytical System Keco’s H2S analyzer due to its precision and reliability proven by thousands of worldwide installations around the globe

Benefits of Model 204 Hydrocarbons/VOCs in Water Analyzers

Environmental Benefits :

ASI essentially offers a total hydrocarbon analyzer which is better for the environment because it will measure
all hydrocarbons in the sample rather than a select few HRVOCs (highly reactive VOCs). The HRVOC
designation using a G.C. only measures six hydrocarbons, allowing other dangerous hydrocarbons to go
undetected.

Safety Benefits :

The Model 204 can measure hydrocarbon leaks long before other methods, ensuring the cooling tower will not
reach LEL & cause a possible explosion. Unfortunately, one of our customers was not so fortunate. No one was
hurt but if personnel had not been in the control room at the time it could have been a disaster. They have since
installed our ASI Model 204s to prevent any future explosions from occurring.

Financial Benefits :

The analyzer can easily pay for itself after the first leak is detected. Payout for the analyzer is achieved after the
first leak because typically a 10ppm by weight hydrocarbon leak in the heat exchanger can emit 15,000 lbs per
day lost product at 1,500 million lbs per day flow rate. That is a very significant lost product on a daily basis. In
addition, government environmental reports can be reduced & fines eliminated.

Accuracy & Low Maintenance :

Our design philosophy is to keep the analyzer as simple as possible while maintaining accuracy. This results in an analyzer that offers much more reliability with much less down time.
